Perfetto il lavoro della Lampre-Farnese Vini nel controllare la fuga principale della tappa, animata da Montenegro, Pedersen, Roels e Isaichev, azione annullata a 5 km dal traguardo; ottimo poi il supporto offerto a Petacchi nelle fasi antecedenti lo sprint.
