TOM BOONEN WIN THE SECOND STAGE OF PARIGI-NIZZA

As usually happens in Paris-Nice, the wind is protagonist. In fact, in the 2nd stage of the French race (Mantes la Jolie-Orléans of 185,5 km) Omega Pharma attacked after 93 km thanks to the strong wind: the bunch broke into many little groups and 21 riders led the race, while behind them the followers pedaled in echelons.
For Lampre-ISD, no one was in the head group, while Bole and Righi pedaled in the first chasing group that was joined, at 45 km to go, by other riders among which there were Cunego and Bertagnolli to.
Unluckily, Cunego had to perform an extra effort after a puncture, but he could join again the chasing group that crossed the finish line 2’30” after Tom Boonen, winner of the stage.
Wiggins is the new leader, whilo for Lampre-ISD Bole is 66th (3’14”), Pietropolli 77th (3’24”) and Cunego 86th (3’28”).

“We could not react in a proper and quick way to the attack and so we had to chase for the rest of the stage, without completing our efforts – sport director Piovani said – In addition, we had to chase the puncture occurred to Cunego, so it was a hard day”.
