Hero of the day is Matteo Rabottini, who centers the successful escape of the day. He triumphs over the finishing line at 1280 meters high, after a long solitary ride, despite the great comeback of Joaquim Rodriguez in the last kilometer.
Damiano Cunego try the surprise attacking downhill. He become virtual Maglia Rosa for few moments, but in the last kilometers he has recovered by the group of the best.
The Liquigas Cannondale makes the race in the last kilometers with a brilliant Ivan Basso, always leading the pack. Michele Scarponi in the last two kilometers stretches the group doing the best final selection.
Right at that moment Joaquim Rodriguez is going to recover the pink jersey losted in yesterday’s stage, giving the impression to leaving the victory to Rabottini.
