MANY COMPETITORS STRIVE FOR A BONE AND ONLY GERRANS RUNS AWAY WITH IT: THE 2012 MILAN SANREMO IS HIS.

Simon Gerrans is the winner of the 2012 Milan Sanremo 103rd edition.

As it often happens, an outsider won over many other forecasted favorites. It was the color bearer of the newborn GreenEdge Australian team to win the classic spring race after the three leaders sprinted over the Poggio driven to the final sprint by a very generous Fabian Cancellara, who undertook the task of carrying the sprint (with a very good Vincenzo Nibali as the odd man) to the Sanremo finish line.

The rest of the group arrived a few seconds later (fourth place for Peter Sagan completing Liquigas Team’s good performance and an excellent sixth place for Filippo Pozzato who has just made a come back after his collarbone injury in the recent Tour of Qatar).
This is the first great success in the career of the reigning Australian champion Gerrans, who recently won the Down Under Tour
