He had promised it right after his victorious arrival yesterday and Diego Ulissi kept his word.
The young Lampre-ISD champion gave a winning performance also today by tacking the Pavullo final stretch of the Coppi and Bartali International Week’s 3rd stage.

A though race, characterized by an initial sprint which was kept at bay mainly by the team work of Androni Toys-Venezuela. Then the platoon arrived packed in at the foot of the last hike and Diego Ulissi prompted the decisive attack along with 5 other riders: Di Luca, Huzarski, Serpa Perez, Rujano and Pozzovivo. The 6 athletes sprinted towards the finish line and then continued with a tight sprint in which Ulissi was able to stay ahead of Di Luca and Huzarski. In the overall ranking, Benedetti hands the leadership over to his teammate Hutarski with 10 seconds over Di Luca and 11 seconds over Ulissi.

These are the words that Ulissi said right after the finish line: “I was sure to do well today and thanks to my team’s excellent contribution I managed to land to the last climb with ease. It was a difficult climb especially the last 5,6 km which I tacked with the 39×25, I tried to make a difference at the appropriate time and I made it. At first no opponent managed to keep up with me while I accelerated, then a group of 5 riders joined me and we reached the last kilometer together.
Rujano tried to surprise us, but Huzarski reacted and personally brought us back to the Androni Toys-Venezuela rider and I launched my sprint opposing Di Luca’s comeback right after, at about 500 meters from the finish. The final time trial attends us tomorrow and I will give it all I’ve got hoping to do a good test.”
